About the Book

In Volume I, “399 Days: An American Adventure”, the Taylor family visited the 48 contiguous United States. Their experiences bonded them together as never before. In their travels, they happened upon parades, concerts, regional festivals, holiday celebrations, and state fairs. The changing seasons brought nature’s kaleidoscope of colors. Although there were arguments and hurt feelings, they found grace and forgiveness through their relationships with Jesus Christ. Sometimes the challenges seemed to come from all directions, as they get sick, sore, snowed in, sent away, misquoted, misled, pulled over, and locked out. Through it all, the Lord provided and the family as thrived. Now the Taylors are ready for even higher adventure: a new continent with foreign languages, new currencies, exotic foods, and unfamiliar customs. When they mention their plans to others, most people shake their heads. They say it’s crazy. Maybe it is. Join them now as they embark on Volume II, “399 Days: Our European Escapade”.

About the Author

During their family trip, the Taylor Family kept a family blog that has now become a family book. Each family member signed up to be the family tour guide for two or three European nations. Tour guides were responsible to choose where to go, how to get there, what to do, and where (and what) to eat. In all these decisions, the tour guide had to stay within the family trip budget. Caitlin was the official event coordinator. As “la especialista en español”, she planned the family’s tour of Spain. England and Luxembourg were her other responsibilities. Our Big Engineering Nerd (BEN) and webmaster handled the administration of the blog website. Ben guided family tours in Germany, Belgium and Czech Republic. Lindsey was “le guide français”, leading the family’s travels in France, Austria, and Lichtenstein. She served as the family concierge, making each new residence feel like home in these very foreign places. No tour would be complete without a running narration. Abby stepped up to meet the need as the family’s color commentator. “La especialista portugués”, she pioneered the explorations in Portugal. She also facilitated family forays into Northern Ireland and Ireland. The matriarch, Pam, was the official navigator. Her organizational skills earned her the title “Manager of Mayhem” (MOM). She led the family tours of the Netherlands and Switzerland. The patriarch, Jim, scouted out and blazed the trails for many family hikes. He was also Director and Driver (DAD). The nations of Italy, Scotland, and Wales were his special responsibility.
