About the Book

This new and refreshing book provides a positive explanation to children who are separated from their parents for any period of time. “We share when we sleep” gradually leads to a conclusion of sharing parents who are overseas when the children are asleep. This story is narrated by two boys, Dylan and Kaiser, who have a very special way of creating a connection with the reader by relating to sharing a parent who is overseas too. Perfect for military families, child psychologist, therapist, counselor, support groups, non-profits concerned with child separation anxiety, as well as any family who is faced with the complicated task of explaining being separated from their children. In addition to describing sharing when we sleep, the author has uniquely addressed various other types of sharing in this book such as sharing our environment, resources, family, friends, teachers, toys, food, feelings, and even their home.

About the Author

This wonderful new book, “We share when we sleep” was written by a psychology student while creating a rehabilitation program for at-risk juveniles and volunteering abroad. The author, Jason Smith, while working with a non-profit organization assisting homeless youth, recognized a need for a solution to the obstacles facing at-risk, homeless, and father-less youth. Jason sold everything he owned and embarked on what transformed into a two year research and development journey beginning with a prolonged stay in India. During this time he realized the effects of time away from his two young boys. He felt the need for them to understand the time away was not a negative experience, however a combined sacrifice of time and attention for the positive development of other individuals. This book is dedicated to children of military families who have made the same sacrifices so we can all be safe and free.
