This Advent Wreath devotional book is designed for use with children, and by children. They are excited for Christmas Day, but at the moment of prayer, they want to eat! The daily prayers, the Bible verses, and the everyday example have all been brief to maintain attention during the prayer. Even the font size is aimed for the ease of children to read and participate with a minimum of adult interference prior to the meal during the prayer. You, as the adult or parent, are charged with the more specific teaching about the Advent wreath: the circle signifying God’s never-ending love; light of the candles to remind us that Christ is the Light of the World; the use of 4 candles for the 4 weeks of Advent representing promise, light, love and hope; and the word “Advent” itself meaning “coming” as in the coming of Christ on Christmas Day. FIRST WEEK SUNDAY Light the 1st Candle READ: We call the first candle “promise”. It reminds us that God promised to send his son Jesus. THE BIBLE SAYS: “For a child is born to us, a son is given us; upon his shoulder dominion rests. They name him Wonder-Counselor, God-Hero, Father-Forever, Prince of Peace”. (Isaiah 9:6) When we say “I promise to wash my hands before dinner”, Mom and Dad know I will keep my word. God kept his word, his promise, and sent Jesus. PRAY: Dear God, help me to keep all my promises

About the Book
This booklet offers daily prayer for use with the Advent Wreath at mealtime, in a large font, that is concise, relevant, and to the point without giving up the purpose of the prayers. Children will be able to do the reading, focus on the concept for the week due to the repetition of the basic prayer, while keeping peace at mealtime due to the brevity of the devotions.
About the Author
As a working mother of three children, Jeanne Preski found it challenging to instill Catholic traditions and prayer, as well as run the family smoothly, especially at dinner time. The traditional Advent Wreath devotionals had exceptionally long Bible passages, prayers that were too long, and unrelated to the children. This devotional offers weekly repetitive prayer presented in larger print with basic concepts that are easier for younger children to read. The repetition of the weekly prayers focuses on the need for children to hear a message over and over for knowledge. As a mother of active children, she found it constantly challenging for a teaching moment, as well as keep everyone on schedule.
