The Joy

I had planned my journey! I had planned my work and worked my plan. After all, that was how I had been taught to do it! You know the old adage "“Plan your Work; Work your Plan". How many of you know regardless as to how comprehensive your plan, that God is the ultimate planner and has a plan for you and for me. That day, I learned that God had another plan for me and for my life. Well, on this bitter cold but sun shining day-my first day of part-time, I was informed that there was a strange shape in my right breast and the radiologist strongly recommended that I get further testing. So, being the type "A" that I am, I pressed him "what exactly does this mean?" He looked at me so as to say "how do I phrase this?" Mrs. Jolla, I highly suspect that there is cancer in your right breast." I became numb. These words playing over and over in my ear. You see, I've gotten my mammograms religiously for the past 10 years during the last week of December. So the next question out of my mouth was, "do you have last year's mammogram? This just developed in the past 12 months? How can that be? No one in my family has ever had cancer. I was trying desperately to make sense out of what was becoming clear was no non-sense other than God had chosen me for this journey. I asked again, are you sure this was not just a misreading, which had happened to me a few years earlier. Of course when I received the letter the week before to come in for further testing, I got that flutter in my stomach we all get when we receive such a letter, but just knew it was a misread, after all this was a different location. That day I will never forget! I sat in my car and had a long, long talk with Jesus’. One of my favorite hymnals- Have a little talk with Jesus; Tell Him all about your troubles, he will hear your faintest cry and He will answer by and by. I was looking for answers. In major dis-belief and with so many questions on my mind, I needed to be still and know that God is in control. I sat in my car and just let the spirit of the Lord engulf me. I must have sat there for at least an hour, tears flowing down my cheeks. How would I handle this? Would I tell my husband immediately or wait until I had real confirmation? Could I hold this news until then, after all my husband Michael is my best friend and we talk about everything! What about my girls? What about my work plan? That day in my car, the spirit of the Lord surrounded me like never before. I was reminded how God had made a way for me throughout my life and lucrative career. This was about to be another journey.
