About the Author

A native of Long Island, Sharon Pesenti moved to Los Angeles where she studied vocal performance and music education in college and received both her Bachelor’s and Master’s degrees from the University of Southern California. She went on to pursue an opera career in California and New York; and also performed Baroque opera in Innsbruck, Austria. After settling back in New York with her husband Paul, a career in music education ensued. Sharon has taught chorus in high school and middle school and now elementary school; where, she believes, the foundation of vocal understanding should begin. Sharon is a NYSSMA All State vocal adjudicator; and sends over 75 students to the NYSSMA Solo Festival each year. She is also a judge for district choral festivals, a clinician for music staff development and the conductor of The United Choral Society, a community chorus. She currently performs with Le Tre Donne della Musica, a trio ensemble for soprano, flute and piano.
