About the Author
PUSH
Push (Mabusha Cooper) is best described as a multi-faceted, multi-talented artist whose reach spans across many areas of Hip Hop culture. He is a former host of 88 Hip Hop, founder of Hip Hop History Month, former member of the Brooklyn Street Dancers (B.S.D., later known as the Fresh Generation) and organizer of Soul Powers, a Brooklyn-based entertainment group that publicized and marketed various Hip Hop based functions throughout Brooklyn.
As host and original member of
88hiphop.com, Push was among the first personalities to produce Hip Hop
programming on the web. His show brought the people, lifestyle and culture of
the Hip Hop online in a creative and interactive format. On
Push's programs consisted of
interviews with guest DJs, live studio performances, audience chats and a
variety of Hip Hop related performances. and material. The show featured
exclusive interviews with leading Hip Hop artists, including Nas, Afrika Bambaataa, Tony Touch, Wutang
Clan, Russell Simmons, Phase2, Rock Steady Crew, Nelly and r&b singer,
actress Brandy. Currently, he can be seen on III Brew, a live Hip
Hop show at www.illbrew.com.
In 1993 Push co-founded Educated
Voices of Hip Hop Inc (E.V.H.H.), a community-based activist coalition to
promote collective building and youth empowerment through Hip Hop culture.
Under the E.V.H.H. moniker, he penned Graff-X, an underground music quarterly
whose stories and texture would be adopted for his later work. In addition to
his numerous credentials, Push has been pivotal in organizing and promoting
community works including Stop The Violence and Rap and the Media. His
first book, Hip Hop History: The
