Jane Dockery awoke from her slumber, rubbed her eyes, and looked at the clock. What was that sound? Had she imagined it? She laid in the dark,and tried to determine where it emanated. Her second floor apartment had a balcony door that opened out to a small deck, and that's where she heard the noise again. Someone was trying to jimmy the lock. She reached for her snub nosed revovler on the light stand next to the bed, and listened gun in hand. There was about a two minute pause before the noise began again slowly and faintly. She was wide awake now and very alert. She heard another clicking sound, and a faint squeak when the balcony door opened. The lock had sprung. A shadowy figure emerged into her bedroom. Dockery could barely make out the large black shape as it moved slowly in the darkness. The figure seemed to linger by her dresser and jewelry box as she pointed the pistol at the dark image.
"Freeze or I'll shoot!"

Murder on the Opinion Page is a mystery thriller about people who disappear after they write a letter to the editor. Veteran police detective, Dan Kawowski and forensics intern Jane Dockery, suspect a serial killer is on the loose. Why would someone be kidnapped and murdered for writing a letter to the editor? Kawowski and Dockery search for the killer, and stumble upon a plot no one would ever dream could happen. This couldn't happen in America, could it?
About the Author
Tony A. Powers is a former radio and television sports announcer. He did play-by-play for WHO Radio, a 50,000 watt clear channel broadcasting giant. It's the same station where our former late president, Ronald (Dutch) Reagan, worked as a sportscaster before his acting and political careers. Before embarking on his writing career, Tony was also an award winning television sportscaster. He is a highly decorated combat veteran who was severely wounded in Vietnam. Murder on the Opinion Page is his debut mystery novel, and he is already planning a sequel. According to his estimates, he has written hundreds of letters to the editor which gave him the idea for this mystery thriller.
