Emotions
Each time you return and each time you forgive
He deals with those beliefs like blows
He twists your mind and he forces the tears
And then threatens you not to cry
Because emotions are not allowed
To cry is to hurt him and to shout is to send him mad
To question is to attack him and to challenge is to confuse him
Your emotions are worthless
They have to be kept hidden, locked away and suppressed
Until they fade and you become his idea of the perfect woman
A machine that doesn’t question because it doesn’t feel anything

An anthology of didactic poems written over a two year period which illustrates the desperation and predictable demise of an emotionally abusive relationship, along with the gradual destruction of a trusting nature; this work was published to offer solace to others in a similar situation.
The reader should attempt some critical analysis around the role of the victim and of the 'missing piece of jigsaw'.
Readers might identify a range of other issues including insecurity, dependence and love addiction and the author hopes that this work will helpothers in a similar situation to work through their pain through examination of a dysfunctional relationship that nearly cost the author her sanity.
About the Author
The author lectures in Teacher Training in an FE college in conjunction with a leading University. As a mature student she achieved a BSc hons degree in Psychology and Linguistics and is completing her last year of a Masters degree in Education. She was married for 10 years and has been divorced for the past 20 years. The relationship in question took place over the past two years but she is now happily single and lives in relative peace in Leicestershire!
