About the Book

The novel you are about to read is based on incidents that occurred in the many maximum and medium class prisons in the state of New York, where the author spent eleven grueling years of his life being subjected to the most shocking behavior perpetrated against another human being by both inmates and Corrections Officers.

In June of 1992, he was arrested for committing a first degree assault on another human being whom he thought was burglarizing the apartment of his wife and himself…instead of calling the police to report that his apartment was burglarized on several occasions, he took matters into his own hands which was very wrong to do.

Prior to June of 1992, his apartment was subjected to continous burglaries. He made complaints about the burglaries to a social worker at the upper Manhattan Family Center. His wife and he were told to move from the building as a remedy to the situation. However, having no job, he was unable to do so and the burglaries continued.

He changed the locks on the apartment door several times and complained to the locksmith, who sold him inferior locks. He called the housing agents to report the break-ins to no avail. He then called the Legal Aid for the Homeless to seek their advice because they were the people who assisted him to obtain the apartment.  He called everybody except 911 to report the burglaries. He even sought psychiatric help and talked to the doctor about the break-ins, again to no avail.

In June of 1992, he assaulted the man whom he believed broke into his apartment. He was arrested and laid up on Rikers Island for three years awaiting trial. Meanwhile, he informed the court-appointed attorney of all the people he complained to about the break-ins. He did not speak to any of them. He then filed court papers for reassignment of counsel. The courts denied his moving papers.

Each attack and injury that he sustained for the next eleven years was done in retaliation for his complaints against those who feel they are above the laws.

The author hopes that this novel will both awaken and give strength to those who have a complaint or grievance and are afraid to do so.  He says ‘go for it’….Stand up for your rights at all costs.
