Author Georges Guibord offers a unique look at a wide array of topics from science to humor to deep philosophical reasoning in his new book, Thinkerings:
The book’s 76 chapters are separated into three sections. The first section, which focuses on scientific, technical, physical and other logical concepts, involves complex topics including the Universe, the Earth, astronomy, light, gravity, time and other scientific theories. Guibord’s highly imaginative interpretations are supported by solid facts and logic which simultaneously inform, enlighten and fascinate readers.
In the second section, Guibord offers a break from the serious topics of the first section with a collection of humorous essays. He covers some serious subjects, such as war, time and myths, but he writes about them from an amusing perspective.
The final section is a deep exploration of matters of morality, life and philosophy. These well-presented and convincing opinion essays are controversial but also educational. Guibord tackles weighty subjects including law, drugs, crime, prison, honesty, separation, war, medicine, smoking, safety, dieting and more.
The book is full of fascinating information that effectively makes it a short course in basic science and astronomy and an imaginative study of many aspects of human nature. There is something of interest for just about everyone.
From an early age, Guibord was interested in science and discovering the way things work. He also became interested in music. He began playing trumpet in the town band at the age of 15 and now plays in two concert bands and a Dixieland band. His career was in computer software with the federal government. He worked for National Defence on the Stock Control System, then for Indian Affairs on Migratory Bird Systems, Indian Band Lists and Statistics, Indian Loans System, Welfare System, Budget Control, Program Evaluation Systems and more. He retired in 1990 and now devotes his time to writing. He has one daughter. Thinkerings is his first book, but he plans to write more in the future.

About the Author
Georges' career in software design for large computer systems required explaining complex ideas in simple terms, in the form of instructions to programmers and as training manuals for the users of these systems.
His interests are diverse and his technical knowledge touches many disciplines. He has an inventive mind that tries to solve every problem that comes his way. Those solutions are imaginative and interesting and often quite educational.
He has an interesting writing style and uses simple words to clarify complex ideas. He sees the broad picture and describes novel ways of simplifying many of life's difficult problems. Some of his ideas have world-changing potential.
