Upon completion of a Kodaly certification program, the need for plans to develop a method of PREPARING, PRESENTING, and PRACTICING a concept was still a challenge. The following lessons were developed as a means to provide a solution to the problem. Consideration had to be given to teacher grade assignment and previous music study by students.

Maxine Horton Beasley was born in
Mrs. Beasley’s 51 years as a music teacher runs the gamut of all teaching levels from Elementary, Junior High, and High School. From her instruction, students have achieved a high level of recognition through Junior High and High School choirs receiving top level ratings, her High School state choir placed first in contest at
Mrs. Beasley found great joy in her teaching and always sought to expand her knowledge about teaching methods that would be helpful to her students. Passing on her teaching experiences in this lesson plan book, she hopes this will be helpful and useful for your teaching experience.
Mrs. Beasley is now retired and serves as pianist and director for all choirs at the St. John Missionary Baptist Church in Beaumont, Texas.
