The author of this book, Jacquelyn MacConnell, is a Sergeant with the Phoenix Police Department and has worked for that agency since 1994. In the Phoenix metropolitan area, the majority of Spanish speakers are from Mexico. This book was written using Ms. MacConnell’s experience in talking to Spanish speaking subjects living in or visiting Phoenix. Ms. MacConnell is not a Spanish professor but wrote this book focusing on terminology that will be understood on the street. The book includes basics such as the alphabet, numbers, days of the week, months of the year, telling time and terminology for weapons, family members, parts of the body and parts of a vehicle. The book also contains closed ended questions for a variety of investigations including assault/domestic violence, robbery, stolen vehicles, burglary, drug possession/sales cases, traffic stops and traffic accidents. The most important part of this book is the high risk stop/contact commands. This book is written for the officers who have little to no understanding/knowledge of the Spanish language, as well as offering information to those who do have a basic understanding/knowledge of Spanish. It is Ms. MacConnell’s desire that this book allow officers to conduct their jobs safer. For more information and other materials offered by Ms. MacConnell, visit www.NetCatAZ.com.
