About the Book
Education Matters: The Early Years is designed to assist parents of school-aged children to become more knowledgeable about the curriculum that is executed in America's classrooms everyday in the hopes that they will become equal players in the sometimes chaotic exercise of educating our nation's youth. It is hoped that, armed with the empowerment that accompanies knowledge, parents will be less intimidated by the educational process and thus become willing and viable contributors to educational endeavors, in an effort to produce favorable educational outcomes for their children.
About the Author
Judith Washington, the author, is a world traveler who has visited and at times lived in Australia, Mexico, Europe, Canada and Asia and is quite familiar with educational practices and institutions worldwide. She speaks three languages fluently other than English,and was a 2002 Fulbright Fellow who studied linguistics in Brazil. She graduated from Emory University, Atlanta, Georgia with a degree in English and History in 1988, and attended Columbus State University in the 1990's receiving her Masters in Education in Special Education in 1998. Currently, she resides in Columbus, Georgia, where she serves as an educational consultant . She enjoys acting in community theatre and writing music and poetry in her spare time. She also enjoys quiet time with her two cats and two dogs.
