About the Author

Emmanuel Aligizakis was born in Crete island of Greece in 1947. Educated in Greece (BA in Political Sciences-Panteios Supreme School of Athens). Served in the arm forces for two years, and emigrated to Vancouver Canada in 1973. Worked in several different jobs over the years. Attended University studies in SFU for a year taking English Literature in a non-degree program. He has written a variety of things over the years.

Contributed the Greek version of "The Chronicle of the Founding of the Greek Community of Vancouver," published in 1979.

Wrote first novel "SPATHIS-322" in Greek in 1974 which was translated into English with the financial assistance of a grant from the Government of Canada, by Stella Koumbarakis. Novel has never been published in whole although a condensed form of it, edited by J. Michael Yates was published in the "Canadian Fiction Magazine" of summer 1975.

Second novel in Greek "STRATIS O ROUCOUNAS" published in Athens Greece by the firm "Mavrides" in 1981.

Collection of poems in Greek "Words of Silence" published 100 copies by the poet in Vancouver in 1993.

Collection of poems in English "The Song of the Lilacs" published 100 copies by the poet in Vancouver in 1994.

Variety of articles and literary contributions to local papers as well as literary publications in Greece over the years.

After working as a iron worker, as a train laborer, as a taxi driver, as a stock broker, he retired in 1998.He lives in White Rock where he spends his days writing, gardening, and traveling.
