The state of the nation’s health care has placed the topic at the forefront of political discussion. Author Ronald Hixson offers a complete guide to understanding the ins and outs of health care including suggested solutions to its current problems in his new book, Battered & Bruised but Not Out (now available through AuthorHouse).
Hixson writes about health care from a business perspective. His book highlights the clash between the government and the healthcare industry. According to Hixson, this clash is the root of today’s healthcare crisis.
"Governmental industries, including policy makers, are overpowering and bullying the healthcare industry at all levels (to push) their own priorities and issues (without) even taking into consideration the thoughts and issues of providers," he says.
The first portion of the book is an informational section. Hixson explains the collaboration between managed care organizations and the state and federal governments. He says this mutual effort to push through their rules of business is jeopardizing the quality and quantity of health care for Americans.
In the second part of the book, Hixson offers his expert advice for providers who wish to stop this cycle. He details the techniques necessary for healthcare providers to defend themselves and avoid being victimized by political bullies.
Battered & Bruised but Not Out is about the struggle between corporate America and the healthcare industry. Health care is essential to all Americans, and Hixson stresses that this is not just a book for professionals on the inside of the industry. "This is important to healthcare providers, but also all Americans who do not want to be pushed into a corner where they are only given undesirable choices of health care to include rationing."
Hixson has worked in the healthcare industry for more than 30 years. He currently runs a small group practice in south Texas near the Mexican border. He has an understanding of both the business side of the industry as well as the way it affects people as he holds a Ph.D. in health administration, an M.B.A. in management, an M.A. in psychology and an M.A. in communication studies.
