In Summa

About the Book

In Summa is only an attempt to show what is otherwise normally unresolved. This is also the attempt to show that a brain-injured poet is capable to express with such a disability, which is one of the ultimate problems. As always, it is a good method to express vagaries and morbid facts, especially with speech problems that are present, which make an uninjured listener discount or question validity. In no sense does this poetry include the entire spectrum of this injury. It would take volumes to detail the feelings of my injury alone, if I had the means to attempt such a feat.

About the Author

Carl D. Schultz was born in Beaufort, South Carolina in 1963. A graduate of Meridian High School in Meridian, Mississippi in 1981 and Mississippi State University in 1986. He enters the U.S. Army as an Infantry Officer on the day that he receives a Bachelor’s Degree in Political Science. He then survives a Traumatic Brain Injury that included a six month coma beginning on 31 October 1987 in a car wreck near Bamberg, West Germany. Though handicapped, now he lives happily in Meridian with his wife and two kids; The ultimate object despite the difficulties. This reminds him to continue his quest. You know who you are, you know what you are. All else is secondary.
