About the Book

The sagebrush prairie passed by outside the bus window and the landscape grew dim in the fading sunset, leaving his hometown far behind. Maybe the tumbleweeds swirling in the wind alongside the bus were an omen; time would scatter bad memories just like wind chasing tumbleweeds

About the Author

This is Bernie Keating's eleventh book. His eclectic writing pursuits include books on frontier history, religion, music, economics, science, and three novels. He went to high school in Edgemont, South Dakota, the setting for this novel. He was a big fish in a little pool, excelling in academics and sports. Working his way through college with the help of an NROTC scholarship, he served as a naval officer during the Korean War, and then followed a long career as an executive with a multi-national corporation. He now lives with his wife of 57 years on a ranch in the Sierra Mountains near Sonora, California where he raises maverick deer and stray cats.
