About the Book

This is the second book from the lead author, Raymond Perras. Teaming up with two leadership coaching clients (Marcel Bellefeuille from the world of professional sports, and Bruno Lindia, a CEO and business owner), Raymond has developed a unique and groundbreaking effort to bring forward some issues that do not often get dealt with in a leadership book. Based on the concept of Peak Performance (the right stuff, in the right amount, at the right time(TM)), this work provides a leader with insight into how to maximize results while reducing stress. It is not meant to confirm what a leader already knows but rather to serve as a basis to "contemplate" how a person who leads a team can help create an atmosphere that enables people to exceed expectations on a routine basis.

Tapping their experiences in leading and coaching leaders, the authors have shared insights into some of the less glamorous aspects of leadership. The goal is to raise a leader's awareness to the fact that the team results can be improved when attention is paid to specific aspects of leadership in order to increase effectiveness. The implementation of a thinking process that ensures a continuous effort to seek peak performance ultimately enables everyone to exceed expectations.

The book provides insight into the state of leadership, highlighting the results of research done in 2011 by Development Dimensions International, to guide the reader's focus toward some leadership traps that can torpedo the best efforts to be an effective leader. In a "three distinct statement" approach, the 10 chapters each address one of the activities or issues that the authors have identified as mission-critical for a leader based on their professional experience.

About the Author

LEAD AUTHOR Raymond Perras is a certified professional coach and trainer with over fifteen years experience coaching individuals and organizations in peak performance in both business and sports. A graduate chemical engineer from the University of Ottawa, Ontario, Canada, he managed a number of engineering projects in the private sector involving a variety of disciplines, skills, expertise and abilities. A five year stint with the Canadian federal government as a national program manager provided experience in the public sector. On the sports side, his involvement spans over 40 years as a player, a coach and in the last 20 years, as a performance coach in hockey, football and other sports from the minor levels to the pros. Raymond has over 30 years of experience in leading and/or coaching leaders in both the private and public sectors. Since 1995, he has been coaching and training leaders in the implementation of a process to ensure the capability and competency to create an environment where people want to be, want to work, and want to share with their co-workers or team mates. Combining his business experience with years of playing and coaching sports, he has produced a leading-edge concept for leadership that helps the leader build and maintain a strong team no matter the circumstances. Raymond lives in Ottawa, Ontario, Canada and continues to research the field of leadership in order to foster the concept of alignment on purpose, bringing organizational capabilities together with people competencies to produce effort-less effectiveness. His next project is the writing of another leadership book that will guide a leader in the creation of an environment that fosters peak performance. Professional Sports Co-author Marcel Bellefeuille is a history graduate from the University of Ottawa, Ontario, Canada, who has carved a career in professional coaching. His career as a football player went from High School to university and the European League where he was player-coach. Along the way, he developed the knowledge and desire to lead teams to success through the implementation of effective leadership. He has been successful in turning situations around and getting the best of his teams through the focused attention to issues that often become barriers to the desired end result. In this book, he has teamed up with Raymond and Bruno to provide insight into ten aspects of leadership from the professional sports coach point of view. Leadership is leadership, but the challenges encountered in sports are magnified by the speed of execution and the constant need to produce a winner. In this domain, leadership requires a different focus and abilities to be successful. Marcel has tapped his many years of professional coaching to provide the reader with an insight that opens the eyes, and calls for flexibility and big picture thinking at all times. CEO Co-author Bruno Lindia is the owner and CEO of a recruiting company based in Calgary, Alberta, Canada. His work experience from the level of helper to his dad at a young age to being the leader of a very successful entreprise provide him with a wealth of experience in effective leadership. Coupled with his involvement in sports all through his life, he has gained a comprehensive understanding of the value of people in the delivery of product and services in an efficient and effective manner. In this joint project, Bruno has shared his insights from the view at the top, speaking with knowledge about the impact of the 10 discussions that aim to raise a leader's awareness to potential pitfalls when leading a team. As his services continually call upon his ability to assess and evaluate candidates and clients in the recruiting business, his perspective brings a fresh look at how these issues play out regardless of the stage of execution in a project.
