About the Book

Culinary Teachers, Students, Chefs, Bakers, Caterers, Etc.

We all make mistakes. A big one is dropping out of school. Not having skill is a sure formula of working at a minimum wage. However always do your best at any task. A good worker doesn’t go unnoticed. The dishwasher may become a cook. A cook might learn ice carving or baking. The more you know the more you earn. Always check out classes offered in Vocational Ed. Depts. In your community. More learning opportunities exist with SETA or Job Corp. Private culinary schools are usually very costly. Many cities have skill centers that offer short spot classes. Don’t forget to look for scholarships being available. It’s a fact that students working in a school café have a better chance to remain in school to further their education.

As a Voc. Ed. Teacher I was able to relate to those who needed aid in learning a skill. Backgrounds varied. Some with disabilities and others recovering from substance abuse. There also were professionals who wanted to unwind from the stress of their daily jobs and enjoyed dabbling in culinary arts. Most importantly the unemployable learned a skill that enabled them to be self supporting.

In the culinary field learning is ongoing and always new ideas to be utilized. Don’t be a quitter.
Exc. Chefs & Pastry Chefs who can sculpture in ice, tallow and chocolate are in demand. Blown sugar is an upgrade. Cake decorating may be another skill to further your career, especially in country clubs and hotels.
