Fergus left Abalobediah and kept walking. He had no idea where he was going. He came to a street and looked both ways, but he didn't see what was coming! He stepped down ftom the curb, and a voice screamed, "Fergus! Stop!" Just as Fergus jumped back on the curb, a big truck honked its horn as it whizzed by. Fergus' heart was beating so quickly. His eyes were getting so bad that he didn't even see the truck! "Fergus, what's the matter with you! You almost got us done in!" Fergus looked around but couldn't see anyone talking to him. "Who's calling me?" he asked. Just then, a little flea jumped onto Fergus' nose. "What were you trying to do? You were almost a goner! Where are you going, anyway?" Fergus began to cry as he told the little flea what had happened. Fergus cried so hard that the little flea slipped off his nose. As the little flea climbed back onto Fergus' nose, he said, "How do you think Jonathan’s going to feel when he wakes up and finds you gone ... for good?" Then the little flea said, "How are you going to feel if you NEVER EVER see Jonathan again?" Fergus thought and thought for a long time, then he frowned, "Never? That would be terrible. I love Jonathan very, very much!" ''Well, then ... what are you going to do about it, Fergus?" Fergus thought again. "I have to go back to see Jonathan, but I can't." "What do you mean YOU CAN'T?" asked the flea. "I told you .. .! can't see where I'm going. I don't even know how I got HERE ... How am I going to get back?" Fergus started to cry again. "Fergus, stop the waterworks! I can't swim! Hey, Fergus, I have an idea! Have you ever heard of a seeing-eye dog?" "Sure, but where am I going to get one?" "No ... I mean I can be your "seeing-eye flea!" Fergus laughed. "How am I going to follow you? You're so tiny. I could hardly see you and you're right on the tip of my nose." "Can you hear me?" "Sure, my hearing is great! My eyes are the problem." "I'll stand on your head and tell you where to go and when to stop until we make it all the way back home. I know the way!" Fergus smiled and asked the little flea, "What's your name?" "No one ever gave me a name." "Well, I'm going to name you Homer, because you're taking me home!"

Marion Mike-Coury has a variety of experiences in her background. She is a teacher, and educational consultant, a speech and language pathologist, a myo-functional therapist, a free-lance writer, and public speaking trainer. Marion is an award-winning public speaker whose name is in the Ohio State Hall of Fame for her work in drama. She has also received a Writer’s Award from The National League of American Pen Women, and is listed in Who’s Who of American Women. Marion is a keynote speaker, seminar leader, facilitator and trainer. She has served on several boards, and has served on the Executive Board as Vice President of Programs for the Marin Council Boy Scouts of America. Marion is President of I LIKE ME! PRODUCTIONS, LLC, which has offered self-esteem programs and products to children from pre-school through high school since 1972. She conducts workshops and in-service training for parents and teachers. Much of Marion’s work has been for the improvement of the quality of “childhood”. Marion is dedicated to “turning kids on to learning, living and laughing.” She states: “Our Country’s most valuable natural resource is her children. Yet, we have been so concerned with giving our children a brighter future, that we have lost sight of our real mission…. That is, to give the future brighter children...especially in terms of respect and acceptance of self and of others. Then, in turn, they will create a brighter future!” Marion has appeared on numerous talk shows nationwide. Her work was featured at the Mill Valley Film Festival in 1986. She was a judge for the San Francisco International Film Festival in 1987. She has written songs and authored several children’s books featuring the I Like Me! Kids ‘n Kritters from Abalobediah, which she has created along with her artist and partner, Laurie Eichhorn.
