Robert Earl Woodard was born in Blount County, Alabama, in 1951. After graduating from high school in 1970, he completed his Bachelor’s Degree in 1973 and Master’s Degree in 1976 from Auburn University. He worked as an educator for thirty-eight years, teaching physical education, as well as many years spent coaching football, basketball, and track. He has a lifelong passion for farming and fishing.
He spent much of his life outdoors on rivers, ponds, and lakes. This is where he learned a lot of his fishing skills. He has a lifelong passion for fishing and has been very successful catching trophy bass for over fifty years. He has caught several bass over ten pounds, one over fourteen, and two over sixteen pounds. One of the sixteen pounders he caught bare-handed and one with a rod and reel. His videos of catching bass with his bare hands have been shared around the world and been on many television shows.
