The Alcoholism Handbook is the culmination of my forty-five years of personal and professional experience dealing with the alcoholic, alcohol in the family, and alcohol in the workplace. I have specialized in counseling alcoholics for the past twenty-seven years, mentoring, counseling, and talking with alcoholics from every walk of life. I have dealt with men, women, and children as well as the professional person, working person, housewife, student, and homeless person, because alcoholism does not discriminate.
I have studied the disease of alcoholism, including its treatment, recovery, and long-term maintenance. I present to you, the reader, the best knowledge I have attained over those years.
I’m a graduate of Fresno State University, with a BA in psychology, and I have a forty-two-year career as a mid-level manager and executive analyst for a large governmental agency. I have twenty-seven years of specialized experience in counseling alcoholics. I reside in Central California (Madera), the gateway to Yosemite National Park near Fresno, with my wife. I have spoken at colleges, universities, and social and humanitarian agencies interested in this topic. I have traveled the country, speaking on the disease of alcoholism in many major US cities.
