I was awakened by the soft touch of wings and with a smile, I opened my eyes. “Matilda! I am so glad to see you! Where is everybody?”
“Little one, remember? You all went in different directions when the tree fell. I am with you as I should be because I am your fairy godmother. Right now, my job is to help you find food and a safe place to live. We will find your family later.”
For two days, Matilda and I spent time in the woods where she showed me all kinds of things to eat like bugs, pieces of a pine cone, leaves and even dirt! There were lots of different animals in the woods, including chipmunks and rabbits.

Sweet Pea found the Cottage In The Park in the Spring of 2011. In her adorable fashion she was seeking help after enduring a frightening few days. Thus the adventure continues as this tiny gray squirrel captures the hearts of the Cottage proprietors.
The author explains there are endless animal situations she is witness to everyday in the Cottage gardens. Then there are situations that contain “Aha Moments” that beg to be told in a book.

About the Author
Debbie resides in Marietta, Georgia with her husband Ed and their two 15 year old Korat cats, Sadie and Churchill. Brother and sister, they have long ago mastered the art of telling them when and what to do. She is a lover of nature. The Cottage In The Park is the affectionate name for Debbie and Ed’s home and the land upon which it sits is inspirational in every way. Wildlife abounds! From the birds, to the critters, to the plants and minerals, she is reminded every day of the life and soul in all of creation. Everything in life has a desire to be the best it can be. And everything has a past, present and future full of love, laughter, challenges, and pure beauty. Debbie was born in Virginia. Due to the nature of her father’s business, they lived in many places throughout the South and the exposure to new spots and people created an interesting collection of lifetime events. Working with corporations was the basis of Debbie’s business career for over 20 years, which included owning and running a successful consulting firm before leaving the corporate world for other pursuits. After she dusted off notes made from various animal events she witnessed over the years, in 2009, Cottage In The Park…The Series ® LLC was born. Since then Butch the Blue Jay, The Squirrel Who Almost Stole Halloween and Warbie, have been enjoyed by children and their adults throughout the United States and Canada.
