CHAPTER TWO: Here's how my career on TV started:
I worked at a used car lot for a Chevrolet dealer, and one day a woman from an advertising agency said to me that I would make a good model ..... I sent her a picture of me wearing a tuxudo taken while I was singing with a band, and the agency hired me for a sweater ad in a national magazine. I was soon doing all kinds of modeling work for magazines and catalogs in Philadelphia.
I was still working at the car dealer when I surrendered my life to Jesus [Chapter One]. The other salesmen were just like me, hard-drinking, foul-mouthed, dirty jokes, etc. I walked into the showroom the morning after I had come to Christ, and told them that I had become a Christian and was going to follow Jesus; and that led to the end of my career into the auto business ! They sneered at me and ridiculed me ...undermined my efforts when I tried to sell cars, and eventually hounded me right out the door.
Two days later I was walking down the street and I said, "Nice going Lord, two days and I'm already unemployed." But God had other plans for me.
I was working at the studio in Philadelphia posing for a magazine ad, and the photographer's assistant said "Why don't you go to New York and do TV commercials...? I got excited, and felt this could be the Lord's leading. Two days later.....I walked into the agency [in NYC] and showed them a few ads that I had done..... I signed a contract. As my work increased so did my income, truly the answers to my prayers.
The first year I made 15 commercials, which was a record. My biggest sucess was the Aqua Velva After-Shave Lotion with acress Mamie Van Doren.....which ran for 3 1/2 years. Every time these were shown on TV, I received a residual payment. [Photo on page 12].
.....Another important commercial was....Kodak cameras; one picture was 30 feet high and 60 feet long, and it hung in Grand Central Station for three months. [Page 13].
One day my agent....said that I had so many commercials running, covering so many products, that they couldn't get me any more work. She suggested that I take my family to Paris for a year or two and work in Europe.
I rushed home, burst into the house, and shouted to Hilda that we were all going to move to Europe for one or two years !She said, "We are going to do WHAT ? " ......[She said this often .]
.....We sailed for Paris on the SS France; ..... The agency there booked me for jobs all over Europe -- Paris, Rome, London, and Spain. ....Now when I look back I'm amazed at all the countries I traveled to and how I could take my family withme. Believe me it is hard to imagine how many we visited ... God sure knows how to bless you when you follow Him !.... [ Photos on pages 15-16. [READ MORE..! ]
We lived in Europe for about 18 months, then sailed home on the last voyage of the Queen Mary. When we returned to the U.S. I resumed my career in New York City.
CHAPTER THREE; Jesus said, "Seek and you will find." God laid out a plan for our lives; He richly blessed us.......
......I started to saturate TV with all my commercials, especially Aqua Velva; then I was invited to speak all over the country and share my testimony about how Jesus Christ can really change our lives.....how my whole life turned around and how I became a TV actor.... I spoke in a great many churches and as a leader on Christian retreats.
One day I asked the Lord if He would start to use me in reaching out to people who didn't go to church. Well, God really answered that prayer in a very dramatic way .....
[I was shown how] I could build a business that would in time give me a permanent income. I hadn't planned on leaving my TV business, but all of a sudden I had my eyes opened, because I was shown how I could go into Christian outreach......
I realized that God had really answered my prayer. Hilda and I were speaking to a great many people who never went to church, or any Christian function, and we were sharing the Love of the Lord with them. .... He had opened a whole new ministry for us.
CHAPTER FOUR: One summer Hilda and I took the boys and went to Canada on a vacation....I really got hooked after fishing there, and decided I wanted to build a cabin there. Later I went back and found a Christian realtor; he let me use his boat; I cast my line out and on the first cast pulled in a big walleyed pike.That reminded me of what Jesus did -- He told Peter to go cast his line, and he pulled in a fish, opened its mouth, and there was a coin, that Jesus used to pay the temple tax. I then bought this beautiful piece of property with 525 feet of lake front. I went home and told Hilda and she said, "You did WHAT ?? [Photos on pages 32-33.]

About the Author
JIM GALBRAITH has had an active life with his family, centered around his strong Christian faith in the Lord, our Savior Jesus Christ, and the Holy Spirit. He has been a well-known commercial TV actor, a top business executive, a Christian conservative political leader; a leader in church and church-related events, and many ministries, especially the Bread of Life Homeless Mission in Seattle, Washington.
Jim has appeared on The 700 Club TV program; has had his writings, especially the article "The Case of the Immature Husband", published in TV Guide and Guidepost Magazine, and has written numerous Bible- and Scripture-based articles. He writes and publishes his own monthly newsletter, the ActionGram, for his Christian political group, FACTS FOR FREEDOM, plus Endorsements for candidates in every State election. He is well-known in Washington State politics and was a candidate for a seat in Congress.
He lives in the Puyallup, Washington area, near his son and daughter-in-law, his six grown grandchildren and four great-grandchildren. Since the loss of his wife Hilda, he does his own housekeeping, cooking and gardening, looking after four retired Arabian race horses and his beloved dog Sandy.
Jim often visits his daughter and son-in-law and three grand-daughters in Alaska; where he is a very enthusiastic fisherman. He has many friends throughout the United States.
