INTRODUCTION
The purpose of this book is not to vent my anger, frustrations or resentments and not to personally hurt anyone, but to warn you, the public, that this same situation could happen to you. If I can be one of the messengers to sound the alarm, then my efforts have been worth it. After reading and rereading the depositions and trial transcripts of this Neimay lawsuit for the first time since 1991, I truly believe it is my responsibility to tell you this story which is based on facts.
Corporate corruption is rampant in our country. We have a few very strong leaders trying to do something about it. I believe that each and every one of us has a responsibility to STAND UP AND BE COUNTED. We are either part of the problem or part of the solution. That choice is ours. Or we can sit on the fence. That is also our choice.
My fight is against white-collar crime. Specifically real estate white-collar crime. Specifically on the Outer Banks of North Carolina. It takes real estate brokers, lawyers, bankers and accountants working together to accomplish this. You can’t blame one without the other.
All of the characters in this book have a fiduciary responsibility to the public. Many of them are failing miserably. Many of them are still going full speed. They are reflecting badly on their professions.
My facts are based on the depositions taken from the executor, the CPA, the banker, the partnership attorney and a three-day transcript of the Neimay trial.
It is my deep belief that one must clean up his or her backyard before they have a right to complain about others.
I am a North Carolina real estate broker. The OUTER BANKS OF NORTH CAROLINA happens to be my backyard. My goal is to help clean it up. I challenge the honest lawyers, bankers, accountants and realtors of the Outer Banks to do the same.
Set an example. Maybe it will be contagious.
