Why Choose AuthorHouse to Publish Your Book?

Transcript:

I chose AuthorHouse because, A, it’s one of the older Indie publishing firms; B, it should know what it’s doing and has a good reputation among self publishing companies.  They did exactly what I asked them to do.  They did it in a timely manner.

I think the single most impressive factor is the quality of their staff.  They’ve been very helpful and very responsive when questions have come up, or when minor problems have been encountered.  I view them as being very professional and very sensitive to the needs of their authors.

Working with AuthorHouse, we learn a lot, and the books are very well done.  They have a quality look.  Everything about it looks extremely professional.

Well, for us, I think when we went to the website, the website was easy to navigate through.  So I think anyone beginning, I think you can start there.  And, the other thing that worked for us, we got a personal rep in the beginning and she was very, very, good.  She was always there, either by phone or by email.

You can go to the AuthorHouse website and they will tell you everything you need to know, and a whole bunch of stuff you didn’t know you need to know, that’s what we found out.

Even I can get through it and I’m not so computer savvy.

Right.  We learned a lot about business.

Many of the employees and professionals at AuthorHouse are my friends now, and that’s a rare thing in today’s world.  It’s a very impersonal world.

We have the freedom to try all kinds of experiments, and you couldn’t do this with the mainstream houses for sure.  You lose control of your content right away, and that’s one of the reasons why we like independent publishing, we control and own our content, and it gives us leverage in case we want to do things, right?

Yes.

I knew how long it might take to find an agent, and who then might have to spend some time finding a company, which then might take some time getting it between covers, and I didn’t want to be age 65 or 66 before my first book was out.  That’s why I began investigating companies like AuthorHouse.

I know I did the right thing when a book store manager picks up a copy of -2:08-, and looks at it and goes, wow, this is a nice book, as though in one breath they're surprised.  Some books aren’t of such quality.

In publishing books, I’ve learned that many surprises await authors, and I think the single biggest surprise for a first time author is the cache that goes with being an author.  People are impressed by anyone who’s imposed enough discipline on himself or herself to research and write a book.  They want to learn more about the book.  They want to learn more about the author.  And, frankly, it’s all very gratifying.

There’s a funny thing that’s happened to us, we’re not really experts in multi-culturalism or diversity, or anything like that, but we’re getting calls from schools, universities, and we’re doing all of these little book fairs and panel discussions, and things like that.  We’re doing television and radio in Atlanta and places, like we’re experts.  And, we say we’re not experts but they say come on anyway and talk about what you do.

Yes.  What just amazes me and floors me is how many people have written a book, are writing book, want to write a book. I had no idea how many aspiring authors there are, and I spend part of every book signing a significant part of every book signing would be authors.  They are just dying to know how did you do this and how could I do it too.  AuthorHouse does a very professional quality job and I have no complaints with my experience.  It’s been a great ride.  I’d do it again.  I will do it again.  I’ve got a book four.
