AuthorHouse Author George R. Lopez on Why to Be a Writer

Write what you love, love what you write, but make sure that the investment is emotional. Don’t do it for the end-all, be-all, which is the monetary gain. Don’t do it for the notoriety. Do it because it comes from your heart and your soul. Do it because it comes from your experience. Do it because it comes from your knowledge that you want to share out there because people are smart, and they’ll be able to pick up—when they’ll read that book—whether or not you’re genuine or you’re preaching to them or when you’re just being very condescending. If you’re going to share your words with the world, make sure those words, you’re gonna own them. If you’re going to own it, own it from your heart.
