Housekeeping for God

Our initial obedience to God in faith starts us on our journey home. It “comes from hearing and hearing by the word of Christ” (Romans 10:17). How did you hear the Word? Did a pulpit lesson convict your heart (Romans 10:14)? Did someone care enough for your salvation to teach you personally (Mark 16:15,16)? Maybe you were fortunate enough to receive the Word by teaching and example from Godly family members (2 Timothy 1:5). However it began we understand that our faith requires more of us than just believing. James points out, “You believe that God is one. You do well; the demons also believe, and shudder. But are you willing to recognize, you foolish fellow; that faith without works is useless” (James 2:19,20)? If we were to poll the first fifty people we met on the street we would no doubt find that the majority, if not all, would declare a belief in God but how many of that number do you suppose work their faith or are even willing to profess a need to do so?

About the Book
I am a temple of God. You are a temple of God. His Spirit dwells within us. How awesome is that? And just how conscientious are we in our dedication to keeping that dwelling place pure for Him? His Word serves as a mirror for examination of the soul. When we look into it, do we come away with hearts assured that the housekeeping we are doing for Him is deserving of the commendation, “Well done, good and faithful servant?” The Heavenly Master we serve has given us His all. He merits no less than our ‘all’ in return.

Wanda Jo Pence is a native Texan, having been born, raised and educated there. She has lived in Las Vegas, Nevada, since 1950. She counts her greatest joys to be spending time with her physical and spiritual families, and sharing her love for the Lord through her writing.
