Ellen Hasenecz Calvert resides in her adopted home state of Arizona. Born in New Jersey, Ellen considered herself a "Joisey" girl until 1988 when she fell in love with the fragile beauty of the Southwest. Pilgrim is her first book.
For seventeen years, our family belonged to a cat named Pilgrim. As the glue that kept the family together, Pilgrim's adventures were numerous over the years, but wait, let's allow Pilgrim to tell the story himself, in his own words.....
With my newfound maturity, I now planned to exercise to keep my weight down by walking with the family almost every night. Every evening without fail, Yelena and Dave walked the dogs in the park across the street from our home in Arizona.
On nights when the moon was full, it cast a whiteness almost like snow on the grass and sand. My white coat sparkled as I very deliberately placed one paw in front of the other, making sure to step only on the bricks. I saw this as a balancing act with my family of humans and dogs as an appreciative audience.
"Good grief, it's taking forever for Pilgrim to get here," groaned Yelena.
"I think he's walking in slow motion," replied Dave.
"Do you think Pilgrim does this on purpose?" asked Yelena.
"Are you kidding? Everything Pilgrim does is always permeditated," Dave concluded.
