About the Author

Barbara lives in Stanwood Washington with her husbnd, Peter, 2 llamas, Almond Joy and Silver Spoon and 2 dogs. She is a self-taught knitter. When she was 10 she wanted to learn to knit and a neighbor was king enough to help. Several months later her family moved amd she didn't pick up her needles until she married. She again wanted to learn to but there was no one around and so she got a book and deced she would each herself. She had been knitting for 47 years. After raising one son and two daughters, she decided to return to school where she earned a degree as a Radiology Technician, and then a B.S. degree in Health Education. After retiring from the classroom, which she missed, she decided to teach knitting. She teached one day a week at the Stanwood Resource Center, Stanwood Washington, where she has been teaching for 5 1/2 years. She has taught for the Ben Franklin store in Monroe Washington and has taken knitting classes from several of her local knitting shops. She has earned her Beginning and Intermediate YTeaching Certificates from the Yarn Council of America. She is one of the founding members of the NOrth Sound Knitters Guild in Stanwood Washington.
