Deb McEnery lives in Southwestern Indiana with her husband, Liam. They live with two dogs, and an assortment of parrots. Deb has been writing for a local Artist's paper for the past year, and has had some poetry published. Currently she is a correspondent for the Sullivan Daily Times, and is working on a collection of short stories. A veteran of the US Army and Army National Guard, Deb has always been a dog lover, and often stops to rescue just about any animal in trouble. My first stray was found when I was three years old. A Fox Terrier mix named Timmy (couldn't call him Lassie). I've never purchased a dog. They just come to me, and I never know what breed I'll get either. Pizanno met me as I left a gas station mart with a small pizza, "Hey - Pizanno"..He truly is everybody's friend.. Still loves pizza too. Many of my friends throughout the years contributed their knowledge to this cookbook. I have been blessed to know many people who loved their dogs. Would not feed them commercial foods, but cooked for them instead. My own dog Jinger made it a necessity, because of her allergies. Pi because of his stray past, prior unknown diet, and very sensitive stomach. He was treated by a vet off and on for almost a year for digestive issues. All of these things contributed to the creation of Home Cookin' for Dogs! Now you can benefit from the experience of others.
My recipes to feed your best friend a whole food diet are centered in your kitchen with ingredients that are (most likely) already there. Most preparation times are within 15 minutes. Your dog's overall condition will improve dramatically. My dogs are Jinger (like the spice) and Pi (short for Pizanno), their condition was good before the home diet. After the home diet, they are spectacular: beautiful coats, shining eyes, spring in their steps, and Pi even lost a couple of pounds.
The purpose of this is to help you avoid pet food safety issues. In light of the recent pet food recalls, it occurred to me that we need to make a few changes in the way we care for our pets.
