About the Book

In this inspirational poetry collection, Desireé Barnes explores the idea that everything has a time and a purpose ordained by God, even pain and suffering. What might seem superfluous and unfair in the midst of a storm is more beneficial than the human mind can fathom. God wants to build our character, making our souls stronger and more available to hear our calling. Each poem looks into a different emotion—anger, love, loneliness, and worthlessness—to find how such negative thoughts can lead to peace and joy in abundance. Writing this poetry brought healing to Barnes' chronic migraine and tension headaches and helped her to realize God's unconditional love, and that is exactly her hope for you: healing and accepting God's love.

About the Author

Desiree Barnes rededicated her life to Christ in March of 2006 and has since seen a drastic growth in her character and her faith in God. God has always been the center of her life but her faith has seen many trials that she has overcome with His help, as any and all children of God do and must. She has attended Largo Community Church since she was a child and returned there, after college, to work with the youth.

She received a Bachelor of Arts degree in Theology and English from Georgetown University in 2007.

Plans

When I think I’ve got it under control

and things are going as planned,

I’m really at the mercy of Him

who knows and understands:

He knows my plans are suggestions,

things that I’d like to get done,

and smiles at my attempts because

only His will shall be done.

He understands that I’m not perfect,

and my plans will never be either,

so He surprises me with tests and trials

that will teach me patience through error.

So when things are stressful and difficult

I’ll smile and just be thankful

that God’s plan is already in motion

and going right on schedule.
