About the Book

Every year over half of the driving tests taken result in failure, often just as a result of nerves on the day rather than due to bad driving. In addition, learner drivers may be spending much more money and time on repetitive lessons than they need to.

This book shows you how to pass your driving test stress free and in fewer lessons, saving you lots of time money. Now you need to ask yourself: are you ready for that? If you already feel completely confident in your ability, believe that you can perform all the manoeuvres correctly, drive totally without your instructor’s help and guidance, and are totally confident in your ability to pass your test, then don't buy this book because you don’t need it.

However, if there is the slightest doubt in your mind about your confidence or competence levels, or you think that ‘nerves’ will get the better of you on your test, then read on, this book has been written especially for you.

If you are one of the ten percent of the population who is dyslexic you will know that learning to drive can present challenges for you.  Therefore, a specialist chapter has been written for you using multi-sensory learning techniques to make learning easier and much more enjoyable.

Introduction

Every year, over half of the Driving Tests conducted will result in failure!

Reading the above statement, I’m sure you’ll agree that that’s an awful lot of very disappointed people. Over the years, I have taught many people to drive, and during this time, I have become increasingly disheartened at the number of really good drivers who fail their test because of nerves on the day.

In addition to this, I was also concerned about the number of repetitive lessons that I was teaching because pupils seemed to be forgetting much of what they had been taught from one lesson to the next.

I believed that pupils were spending more money on ‘repetitive’ lessons and tests than necessary, so I decided that there had to be a better way for me to help pupils to pass their test, and ultimately become safe, thoughtful and considerate drivers. To this end I researched different methods that would help pupils to increase their ability and confidence, and enable them to reduce their stress and nerves on test day. The results of this research form the basis of this book.

Used correctly, this book will enable you to reduce the number of lessons and tests that you require. If, as a result of using the techniques in this book, you pass your test in just five less lessons, that’s a saving of over £100.00, not to mention the immense relief that you will feel having been able to take, and pass, your driving test feeling calm, relaxed and in control.

Throughout the book, you will find successfully proven methods and techniques that work. With the aid of this book, I feel confident that you will be able to increase your driving ability, your self-assurance will soar, and you can eliminate test day nerves.

Mastering the Manoeuvres

Nine out of 10 manoeuvres performed correctly is good, but unfortunately not good enough if the one that you get wrong is the one you do on your test!

After you have started to get to grips with driving forward, you will find that your instructor throws a spanner in the works; he expects you to go backwards as well! Every single manoeuvre features in the top ten reasons for failure published by Driving Standards Agency, and getting it right nine times out of 10 is no good if the one time you get it wrong is the one that you do on your test. I know it seems unfair as that’s the equivalent of asking a tennis player to hit an ace every time, a snooker player to pot every ball, or a darts player to consistently hit double top, but remember,

There are no second chances

However, as you don‘t get a second chance on your driving test, it is important that you are capable of performing every manoeuvre correctly. You are allowed one forward ‘shunt’ on each manoeuvre which should hopefully be enough allow you to correct yourself, but if not, then you can say goodbye to your test pass, even if you haven’t done anything else wrong on your test. If you have read ’The Top Ten reasons for failure and how to avoid them’, you will know that every manoeuvre features on this list. The exercises in this chapter will improve your ability to get every manoeuvre right every time.

Why do I have to do them anyway?

At the time of writing, the Driving Standards Agency are evaluating the current driving test, and the manoeuvres will be one of the things under discussion. Pupils often question the necessity of manoeuvres and say ’I’ll never do that once I’ve passed my test’. Well, what happens when you want to park at the supermarket or outside your house on the road? If your friend lives in a cul-de-sac are you going to abandon your vehicle because you can’t perform a turn in the road? Of course not, so it’s essential that you learn to do them, regardless of whether you are going to be tested on them or not.

However, if you do find them difficult, you are certainly not alone; just go to your local supermarket on a Saturday afternoon and watch people try to park in the marked bays. You will see people driving around the car park looking for a space that they can drive forward into because they can’t reverse into a bay. You may find it very interesting, and I would suggest that you take sandwiches and a flask of coffee, as it’s a lot more entertaining than watching the television!

Most drivers appear to have difficulty with the parallel park. You have probably seen countless drivers try to get into a space, only to shunt forward and backwards loads of times, often running up and down the kerb and frequently abandoning parking their car at all and driving on to find a larger space! Do you really want to end up like these drivers, or do you want to Master those Manoeuvres and perform them with accuracy and confidence?

……….Hopefully, this has whetted your appetite and you want to find out how you can perform the manoeuvres successfully EVERY TIME. If you do, you need to buy the book which is coming very soon…..
