by Wes Hogan Illustrated by Wes and Tom Hogan
Carson is the young boy scampering happily through the pages of this book. When he was six months old, his parents began teaching him hand signals to express thoughts such as please, thank you, you’re welcome, milk, eat, drink, all done, cookie, play, silly, sing, and love. By the time he was fifteen months old, when the events in this story occurred, his signing capability was much larger. We were about to learn just how much larger it really was.
Wes Hogan has been writing poetry off and on for nearly fifty years. Inspired by his grandson, he wrote “Balloons” and framed a copy for his son-in-law’s birthday. When granddaughter, Jennifer, read it, she recommended the poem be made into a children’s book. Author of numerous Genealogical newsletters and other writings, this is Wes’s first foray into the world of children’s books, but definitely not his last. With his Grandchildren urging him on, he already has three books in the making.
