“Ay Sully, new bartender tonight.” The new bartender was tall, had long brunette hair, and looked fit. Sully assumed she either played a sport or lived at the gym. She stood tall, with the confidence of an athlete. He could not see her face from where he was sitting, but judging the guys’ at the bar’s reactions, he guessed her face matched her body. They were hunched over the bar in an attempt to get a conversation going with her. It seemed pathetic. She then walked to the end of the bar towards Sully. She walked like she was hovering. A type of grace like she had nothing but the music inside her own head. He could now see why the men were hunched over. “Want another?” she said, pointing at Omny while smiling. “I would take one, thank you,” he replied. Sully had never heard him be so polite. She then looked at Sully without saying anything, as if it were his job to ask her what she wanted to drink. For the first time, Sully felt like someone had finally leveled him with their eyes. He did not love that. “Yeah could I get a bud draft, and keep my tab open if that works.” If that works? Obviously that works, that is how bars work. He handed her his debit card. She filled his beer and handed it back. “Here it is, Sully. One bud heavy, and that does work.” Sully just smiled as he grabbed the drink trying to remember the last time someone called him John, but he kind of liked it. It was not until her back turned and she was heading towards the other end of the bar that Sully realized she was teasing him about his word choice. Who the hell does she think she is?
