About the Author

Unique storytelling skills and a desire to write creatively have been important elements in Jim Shields’ life for many years. Recollections from growing up on the family farm in Tennessee have provided him countless images and experiences from which to draw for his stories. Creative writing courses at Berea College (Kentucky) and the University of Kentucky helped him polish his writing skills. Jim is a member of the Society of Children’s Book Writers and Illustrators. His children and grandchildren have provided myriad opportunities to use his craft, focusing on character building and crucial life lessons. Jim Shields (now better known as Papa) lives with his family in Lexington, Kentucky.
