Worth the Risk

“Is this where you tell me you don’t want the commitment you think my virginity will cost you?” Kat asked. She sat up in the bed covered by the sheet.

“Why would you assume that?” Hawk asked.

“Come on, I may not know you very well, but I picked up on the commitment phobia right away. I’m not sure what I’m supposed to want from you, but I can tell you I got what I wanted already. I would like to thank you for a wonderful experience.” Kat spoke very matter of fact with no emotion.

Hawk didn’t know how to hide his shock at her attitude. “Before you get too smug about all of this, I need to tell you that the condom broke.”

Kat sat up straighter and smiled. “Don’t worry about that, I have the birth control issue under control. And you seem like a responsible man, so I’m sure you get tested regularly. Since I was a virgin, I’m disease free. There, now you don’t have to worry about anything.”

“Yeah, except feeling used.” Hawk muttered. “How could you not tell me you were a virgin? And since you were a virgin, why are you on the pill?” He demanded while pulling his pants on.

“Tell you? Is that in a manual somewhere? I didn’t plan on this happening tonight. Honestly, when I first saw you, I knew I wanted my first time to be with you. After meeting you and getting to know you some, I wanted you, but I didn’t set you up.” Her face dropped. “Were you disappointed because of my inexperience? I got the distinct impression that you had a good time. Did I not do this right?”

“That’s not the point.” Hawk frowned at her. He was not sure why this bothered him so much. Probably because he didn’t expect her to still be a virgin, but wasn’t this supposed to be an honor? Somehow he felt it was.

“Come on and get up,” he said as he put his hand out to take hers. “I made you a bath. The warm water will help with any soreness you may feel.’

“You made me a bath?” Kat asked as she put her hand in his to go with him into the bathroom. She didn’t know what to think of this thoughtful gesture. He’s not as tough as he tries to act, she thought.
