POTION LOCOMOTION
I was stirring up a potion
I was going to use as lotion
When I made a sudden motion
That began my life of woes
As I overturned the beaker
The stuff spilled on my sneaker
And I felt myself grow weaker
As the fumes went up my nose
Soon I cleared my streaming eyes
And found, much to my surprise
That I was increasing size
And getting taller from that brew
My heart raced from excitement
For I knew how much this night meant
And the extra feet of height meant
There were things I could now do
Soon my head had reached the ceiling
It's a good thing I was kneeling
And I had the sudden feeling
That I'd best get out of here
When I cleared the doorway portal
I cut loose with a loud chortle
For I realized no mortal
I would ever have to fear
I was now a twelve foot giant
And was feeling quite defiant
As I thought of an old client
Who had last week beat on me
I knew where this thief was staying
So I went with no delaying
Thinking soon he would be paying
For the crime of battery
As I neared, he saw me coming
For my footsteps made a drumming
Plus my fee-fi-fo and fumming
That poor sucker turned and ran
I told him he was luncheon
And that I was there to munch him
As I raised my fist to crunch him
He pushed me onto my big can!
That's what made me realize
Something I did not surmise
That though I'd grown in size
I'd kept the same old mass
So this big lug outweighed me
And that potion had betrayed me
As I found it had now made me
A twenty five foot ass

About the Book
LOPSIDED LAUGHS, a collaboration of author Rick Duncan and illustrator/editor Tina Glasner, is a book of 100 humorous poems and illustrations.

About the Author
Rick Duncan is a poet, musician, songwriter, arranger, and parody writer. Many of the poems featured in LOPSIDED LAUGHS are an offshoot of his songs. He has written over 300 original songs, 300 poems, and 1,100 parodies, mostly in a humorous or sarcastic vein. With his poetry, Rick Duncan expresses unique views about many aspects of our experience, including the romantic, wry, embarrassing, silly, and poignant. Tina Glasner, an editor, writer, and graphic designer, extends the poem concepts, portraying situations never seen in real life. Rick and Tina met in September 2008 in San Jose CA and then discovered they had attended the same Los Angeles area high school at the same time, Canoga Park High, in the early 70s. Since then, they've discovered other “near miss” connections in people they each know, proving it is indeed a strange and small world.
