If the reader likes intrigue, conspiracy, and lies, then this book is for them. The trial of the first “fear of AIDS” case involves a Will, letters of affection mysteriously acquired by Marc Christian after he allegedly gave them back to Rock Hudson, alleged blackmail, and Rock’s actions toward Christian after he was told by Christian he had taken money for sex in the past. There is, also, Rock’s “friend”, who when represented by the same New York law firm that represented the Hudson Estate, and before I took over the defense of the Estate, was allowed to testify in deposition that Rock told him not to tell Christian of his AIDS diagnosis. Hardly an act of a “friend”, but one whom I believe had ulterior motives for so testifying. Even after the trial ended, a person came forward and claimed he had sex with Christian shortly after Rock’s ashes were spread at sea. Intertwined in all of this is a menagerie of witnesses I likened to a trip through Alice in Wonderland. There is also my opinion as to how Rock got AIDS. Finally there is a court that was far from impartial, a jury that wanted to punish the rich and famous, even though they were dead, and the press who sided only with Christian’s story because it made better copy, and never investigated the accuser. Surrounding all of this is the overriding question of what happened to all of Rock’s money. Marc Christian recently died and was never HIV positive, let alone never had AIDS. How could this be if he had high risk anal sex with Rock Hudson 3 to 5 times a week for 8 months after Rock was diagnosed with full blown AIDS? Did Christian really tell the truth at trial about his sexual relationship with Rock Hudson? You, the 13th juror will be the judge of that.

About the Book
This book is about the first “fear of AIDS” case tried in America. It tells the untold story of the trial that the general public heard nothing about. By telling the true story from the perspective of the lawyer who actually represented the Estate of Rock Hudson it is hoped the reader, acting as the 13th juror, will see the gross injustice done to the late actor by Christian and Rock’s alleged friend, Mark Miller, as well as the court, the jury, and the press, all of which were blinded from the truth by this newly discovered disease called AIDS. Marc Christian claimed he was given a death sentence because Rock didn’t tell him of his AIDS diagnosis and continued to have high risk sex with him. 25 years later Christian died not from HIV or AIDS. He was never HIV positive. How could this be if he was telling the truth that he continued having anal sex with Hudson 3 to 5 times a week for 8 months after Rock was first told he had full blown AIDS? Christian was either superhuman and they should clone his blood as a cure for AIDS, or he simply didn’t tell the truth at trial, where Rock Hudson could not defend himself because Christian waited until Rock died, and found out he wasn’t in his Will, before bringing his lawsuit.
About the Author
Robert Parker Mills has been a practicing trial lawyer in the State of California for 40 years. He is admitted to practice in California, Missouri, and Washington D.C., as well as before the U.S. Supreme Court and the Federal District Courts. Mr. Mills has been a past member of the Board of Directors of the Southern California Defense Counsel, a past member of the American Board of Trial Advocates, and a past Master in the American Inns of Court. He has also served as a court sponsored settlement officer. His practice field has ranged from product liability to medical defense to general liability cases. He has provided a defense to a wide and diverse clientele ranging from the construction managers of the Los Angeles Metro Rail Red Line, to E-Coli meat suppliers, to defense of trademark infringement actions brought by the “New Kids on the Block” singing group. Mr. Mills has been a guest lecturer, as well as appearing on the Sally Jessie Raphael show and NBC’s “Trial Watch”. He is a member of PGA West Golf Club, the Jonathan Club, and is a licensed California Real Estate Broker.
