About the Author

Editors Larry Copes and Frances Rosamond have both been students of Stephen I. Brown—personally experiencing the joys of problem posing, the heuristics of pseudohistory, and long discussions about the influence of mathematical thinking on the various aspects of our lives. Both have dedicated their professional careers to increasing access to mathematics.

Frances received her PhD. from Cornell University, chaired the Mathematics Department at National University in San Diego for many years, and is now doing computer science research in Australia, all while continuing math outreach activities. Larry received his Ph.D. from Syracuse University, taught college math (for 30 years), and now runs workshops for teachers and paraprofessionals, edits teachers’ materials for publishers, and develops electronic materials for professional development.
