Brea was born on July 27, 1989. She was whisked away as soon as she was born because she could not breathe. At some point after I was brought back to my room, I hobbled down to Neonatal Intensive Care Unit to see my baby. When I walked in, I saw an adorable, little girl with huge eyes, a ventilator tube, a cast on her leg and a feeding tube in her nose. She responded to my voice immediately. I discovered at that time that her leg was broken at birth because she was so fragile. She could not breathe or eat on her own. Her eyes were crossed. She had a club foot and her hips were dislocated. She was absolutely beautiful.

About the Book
This is the story of a family. Our second child was born with many challenges. She was not expected to live long. We were blessed to have her with us for 27 years. We learned to embrace our new normal. She was a feisty, funny character who inspired everyone she met. Now we have to learn to live without her.
About the Author
Chelle Howatt is a wife, mother, and former school teacher. She is 61 years young. She wrote an article titled The Miracles of Brea when Brea was 3. It was featured in Exceptional Parent and later sold to a college textbook. She has two beautiful children that she loves with all of her heart. She is very proud of them. Her daughter recently passed away. Chelle would like to share their story.
