About the Book

“I like most of this novel. This novel shows some true to life accounts of how Rita, woman who grew up in India had to cope with being uprooted from India after getting married to live in America with her new husband where she has to deal with a drastic culture change, abusive in-laws, raising her children who were born in the States and eventually raising her children by herself. Early, on her journey she had to deal with this with almost no support from family, which was made worse because of her husband’s beatings. Because of this, Rita is torn between the dictates of traditional Indian culture and society, the call of the flesh and desire to have a better life in the US in spite of having to observe traditional Indian customs and traditions. Rita shows a naivete still wanting to have her family intact even if the reality is she might one day end up dead from her husband’s beatings. This novel also shows how much children growing up from a family that has domestic violence ends up being deeply affected even until the adult years. This Novel Predicts The Sentiments of women who seeks acceptance in society, hunger for love and respect both in professional and domestic life. One need to read this novel. This Novel can be good for TV serial both in Hollywood and Bollywood.”

About the Author

Kamlesh Chauhan(Gauri) was born and brought up in a Rajput family in India. After her marriage, she migrated to the U.S., where she completed her post-graduate education. She also pursued her passion for acting, performing in several local Indian plays including “Anarkali,” “Mirza Sahiba,” “Pati, Patni aur Makaan,” “Silence, the Court is in Session,” "Singhsan Khali Hai" and particularly enchanting the audiences with her role in the musical opera, "Ambi Da Buta." She also played small roles in Hollywood productions like "Head of The Class," "Watano Dur," a film made in Canada, and in the TV serial "Lehren," for which she wrote the title song for a well known radio station in San Francisco. Her lyrics have inspired Darwan Naithwal, a singer of repute from Uttrakhand, India, to sing her poetry in a "Pahadi" style for a music video. An issue close to her heart has been that one of domestic violence, which led her to the foundation of the non-profit organization, Jagriti. This subject is also at the heart of her second novel, "Saat Pheron Se Dhokha." Both this novel, and her first novel, "Saat Samunder Paar," have been highly acclaimed in the U.S. and in India, where she has been honored with several literary awards. She is working on her third novel based on Reincarnation.
