How I Survived Childhood Before Child-Safety-Caps, CPR and Penicillin

If you were born before 1940 and lived to see adulthood, you were just plain lucky.  Between the then fatal illnesses, poor nutrition, unsafe toys and our own childish stupidity, we didn't stand much of a chance of reaching adulthood.
