--- A Child responds with Fear to what he/she feels and believes to be unsafe events, actions, or experiences.

--- It is the responsibility of Primary Caregivers and Teachers to recognize

-- the existence of Fear and Anxiety in a Child.

-- the Defense Strategies that a Child uses to deal with feelings of Fear and Anxiety.

-- the negative messages and experiences that generate Fear and Anxiety.

-- the supportive measures needed to help a Child appropriately deal with his/her Fears.

-- the Grapho-Indicators that show and tell the feelings a Child experiences, but is unable to verbally express.

--- IMPORTANT TO NOTE:

-- A Child's Fears are not to be lightly dismissed or ignored.

-- A Child's Fears are not to be judged to be true or false, good or bad, right or wrong.

-- Unresolved Childhood Fears affect an Individual's ability to effectively function in the later years.

THE ORIGIN OF CHILDHOOD FEARS

--- Physical Safety and Emotional Security are basic needs for every Human Being.

--- A child feels Fear when his/her physical or emotional safety is threatened.

--- Negative messages, traumatic experiences, and painful actions threaten a Child's Sense of Security and cause a Child to feel Fear.

--- Fear is Emotional Insecurity.

--- Fear generates Anxiety and Anger -- Stress and Tension.

--- Fear takes root during the early Childhood Years.

--- Fear interferes with a Child's ability to concentrate.

--- Fear stunts a Child's positive Physical and Emotional Growth.

--- Fear interferes with a Child's ability to develop and maintain healthy relationships.

--- Fear is at the root of behavioral and personality problems.
