About the Book

This book is a biblical approach to the recovery from obsessions.  The obsessions can be as minor as fishing too often or as major as full blown addictions to drugs.  The point is that Jesus Christ gave us guidelines on how to moderate and on how to be healed when necessary from these obsessions.
The outline from Matthew in the New Testament  is where Jesus teaches us the format for recovery.  It is why he starts with being "poor in spirit" and ends in being persecuted for your beliefs.  This simple outline from Matthew 5:1-12 is where basically all recovery programs have their origin, and I have included in the back of the book a chapter titled "The beatitudes and their correlation to the twelve steps."  It is the premise of this work to bring clarity to the truth that has always been in God's Word. It is a work that reads well and was a pleasant task to write. I hope you will enjoy as well as benefit from its pages.  Thank you for your consideration and for taking the time to read this brief edit.   Dennis Wright

About the Author

My name is Dennis Wright and I have spent 30 of my 55 years in the field of addictions and dysfunctional thinking.  I am not a teacher or professor, I am a schizophrenic with a gift for words.  I have spent those thirty years struggling to stay off alcohol and drugs and have managed to put twenty years of continuous sobriety together.  My sobriety date is August 5, 1988.  In my effort to stay clean and sober I have helped hundreds of guys who also were trying to stay sober.  The experiences from those gentlemen became my experience and I have learned the concepts in this book from the streets.  From the school of hard knocks you might say.  I dedicated my life to Jesus Christ 6 years ago and found that all the knowledge that I had been embracing as "new" came from the Bible.  Since being baptized with the Holy Spirit I have written 5 books with more on the way.  Please enjoy.

Heroin was a disappointment from the beginning.  I could never get enough in me to satisfy my hunger for the drug.  The times that I would get enough I would overdose and that was a real problem for the other guys that were shooting dope with me.  There were soldiers being put in the dumpsters on a regular basis...........

The heart is far more than a muscle. It is the portal for Jesus to enter our being and then to allow us to change our thinking and actions.  A stubborn mind cannot be changed by will power.  We have to live our way into right thinking instead of thinking our way into right living.  The Holy Spirit is our Strong Tower for this power.

The heart has been designed with the acceptance of truth as its primary capability.  The proof is in the way the Holy Spirit fills us when we first believe. We know that we know because a pure heart cannot be deceived.  That is why it is so desirable, it is impossible for Satan to come against.  But it must be mantained by prayer, fasting, fellowship, Bible reading and an open mind that can hear Gods word.  Yes we are saying that a pure heart can stand against the evil one.  We believe that is why when we achieve it we will be able to see God. The heart is always ready.......
