About the Book

Village On Crooked Hill

There was a small castle dollhouse on Crooked Hill that had been built for Tommy's sister when she was growing up.  After she was grown she went away to college and no one used it anymore, so Mrs. Gray Mouse moved in.  She loved the young animals that lived in Mouse Town and let them help make cookies every Saturday morning, to share and to help teach them the many lessons of life.

About the Author

Village On Crooked Hill

Writing has always been something I wanted to do.  In my school years I wrote romance for my girlfriends.  They encouraged me to write more, but there wasn't enough time.  During college I attended a Police Report Writing Class learning a lot.  My profession required investigations on many subjects including those on vehicle accidents.  As I decided to take an early retirement I began writing in earnest.  With a dozen romances on the shelf and several children's stories as well, I continue to write to share the joy of finding that perfect other half for many women's dreams.

Village On Crooked Hill

Mrs. Gray Mouse realized she wasn't as young as she once was and that she would have to find shelter soon.

She slid around the oak tree and looked ahead as her feet carried her swiftly across the fallen leaves.  There ahead of her was a perfect little castle, although it didn't really look little to her.  She saw that it was made of hard material and she figured Max, the cat, wouldn't be able to scratch through it, so she raced to the door that she could see at the top of the few steps and pushed on it.  Surprisingly enough the door was unlatched and it opened easily.

Mrs. Gray Mouse tumbled very unmouselike onto the floor.  She took a deep breath and got to her feet.  She pushed the door closed just as Max approached the castle.  She could hear the thumping sounds his feet made as he ran, so she knew he was close.

She quickly stepped away from the door, just in case it might pop open when Max slid into the side of the castle. THUMP!  The little castle shook with the impact but stood strong and safe.  Mrs. Gray Mouse had found her safe haven.
