About the Book

Like the effect of the cliché “you live by the sword, you die by the sword,” Vdor has brought you exactly that. A Philadelphia fable about 4 successful black men who were socially promoted as being Philly’s most eligible bachelors; who earned this status by being young, six figure successful, and hosting the most “off the hook” Thank God It’s Friday parties in the city. The open bar and free admission events brought out nothing but the best of V.I.P. status on an invitation only basis.

However, for two of these well established brothers, status, assets, a couple dollars wasn’t quite enough to satisfy their taste of the good life and greed doesn’t always derive from the lust for money.

While some were transcending in their lives and basking in success, others complicated theirs by becoming familiar with the green circle of taboo. Nonetheless, these guys would soon learn that playing the stakes too high would catch up to them in a series of ill-fated events. In this fabulous life, these guys will learn the hard way that “Karma is a bitch,” when it catches up to you. In this book, it’s all about the ending!

About the Author

Native to the streets of North Philadelphia, Vernard Dorsey was born on June 11, 1974. Following the path of writing while active in the U.S. Coast Guard, some say that through his talent, he may become the next Alex Haley, a former Coast Guardsman and author of the 1980’s hit series “Roots.”

Despite the unofficial release his first novel Nard's Opinion (An urban expression about men relating to women) at age 32, "Nard" or "Vdor" discovered his talent to write at age 12, during the early developing years of Hip-Hop. Challenged to write a rhyme for fun, he aspired to become a rapper. That aspiration led to a 14-year Hip-Hop experience. However, at age 26, Nard put Hip-Hop behind him in 2000, and decided to retire the microphone for a new purpose in writing. Finally, seven years later Vdor decided to pursue his ambition and bring forth his debut novel “Nard’s Opinion,” followed by his first fiction novel Karma with a host of other urban novels to come. Vdor is also a writer for an up and coming magazine called Nu-South Magazine which should debut in 2008. Visit Nusouthmagizine.com to view columns from Vdor.

On a personal note, his humor, style, and down to earth persona is indicative to how someone once portrayed him as having a, “conservative edge with a touch of urban flare.” Now residing in New York City, Vdor brings you Karma (A Philadelphia Fable) to claim his right in becoming a first round draft pick in urban literature and possibly rookie of the year.                        A Night at the Club Quarters

The fellas were at it again, hosting another sexy singles party. This time, Girard, Eric, Laron, and Nelly were at the Club Quarters Hotel penthouse suite at 17th and Chestnut in Center City. Every 3rd Friday of the month, these fellas would host an invitation only T.G.I.F. at select locations around the city. If you weren’t a friend or relative of the four fellas, the only way to get an invite was through Myspace or networking, and it is obligatory to have a successful status in order to get that invite. Most of their guests consisted of low profile, high income, sexy singles, looking to let their hair down and mingle with sociable people of their stature. Whether it was for love or networking, you could always find it here.

     Word on the Street

“Four successful brothers, Philly’s most eligible bachelors according to Philly Magazine, all of them known for having the most ‘off the hook’ parties in the city, and two of them have to risk throwing it all away by doing some dumb sh@%. …And ‘E’ you’re suppose to be my man, ‘hundred grand!’” Explain to me why I’m being blind-sided by this bullsh@%.”

“I’m saying, it was something new that me and Nelly tried, it worked so good that we decided to keep it on tap for these stuck up tricks that come to our parties and act like their V.I.P., that’s all. I mean, we may have gotten carried away with it a bit, but I’m sick of these hoes acting like they can’t get got, when they know they get it in just like the rest of these hoes out here!”

Let Me Find Out

“So what’s up Tiff, how do you want to handle this? I can have him done as soon as he leaves the club tonight?” Tiffany’s cousin Porsha asked with dire intentions on getting even.

“No, I don’t want you to hurt him Porsha, but I do want to get even. I’m no good at this plotting sh@% though, so somebody like your maniacal a$$ is going to have to come up with something Porsha.

“Don’t worry ‘cuz,’ I got you covered. I got this…”
