About the Book

Musings II is a continuation of an earlier work, “Musings” that was released in 2007, like its predecessor, this book is compiled, written and dedicated to preserving the words uttered from the combined thoughts, sayings and writings of various family members throughout several generations of The Anderson Family, The Averette Family, The Buffkin Family, The Carter Family, The Daniels Family, The Duncan Family, The Gill Family, The Heath Family, The Henson Family, The LaGrone Family, The Leach Family, The Oliver Family, The Peoples Family, The Reed Family and The Thornton Family.

Unlike its predecessor, this volume will have a collection of photos of all the people whose thoughts, words, stories, etc. are written within both of the books. In this way, the authors hope to paint a mental picture within the readers minds as to what a certain person looked like, thus giving the reader a face to associate with the name that’s listed beneath a given piece of work.

The authors of this book wish to express their heartfelt hope and prayers that this collection, as well as the previous collection, will help to continue to bless and uplift the aspirations of  all the members of the families mentioned above, as well as all who read these profound words.

The authors also hope that these musings will go on to inspire future members of these families and others yet unborn and will challenge them to continue the legacy that has been set forth by the people whose thoughts and words are on the pages of this book.

The Haunting

Soon, she saw what looked like a figure in the shadows near the tree line some yards from the house. There was a light fog out this particular night, and although there was a full moon to illuminate the night’s landscape, she was unable to make out who it was because of the fog…

The Straw Hat Ghost

I was well on my way, when suddenly I felt a presence behind me. I looked back and there behind me, about a hundred yards off, was what looked like a man, an older fellow, who was tall and wore an old straw hat.

I was becoming a bit unnerved, for I was able to get a better look at his face and I kid you not, his eyes appeared to be blood red, unnaturally so…

Firm Intentions

A six year old boy told his papa one day that he wanted to marry the little girl who lived down the road from his house.

The boy’s papa, being a sensible man who was willing to play along with his son in what he thought was the boy’s idea of a practical joke, quickly hid his smile behind his hand as he made the show of grabbing his chin while he was deep in thought, finally he said...

The Little K-9 Hero

He tried not to panic, but he was beginning to get so cold from being submerged halfway up his body in snow; and to make matters worse, a light wind began to blow and the temperature began to gradually drop.

It was about this time that the little dog seemed to realize somehow that his little friend was in trouble. He began barking and hopping around as the boy continued to try and free himself. In time, the little dog turned and left as though he were on a mission, and this he did without any prodding to do so by the little boy. The little boy began to cry, for he feared that his little friend had abandoned him…
