Amazina Twink is the naughtiest fairy in the world of magic. Tired of her misuse of power, the fairy elders confiscate her wand and banish her to live in the enchanted forest with her cat, Major Black.
Vondeana, a wise fairy from the magic world, lives in the human world disguised as an old lady. She is a breeder of very special cats and sometimes, in a litter, a kitten is born that is destined for magical powers. Vondeana will only give this kitten to a kind family that she feels has need of such a cat. This special kitten was called Swankypants.
When Swankypants and his sister Chatterbox are old enough to leave their mother, they begin a new life with a family who have three children and many animals. One summer’s day, Swankypants discovers that he will own a very special collar which can take him on magical journeys. But, what he doesn’t know is that Amazina Twink wants the collar for herself, and has sent Major Black to steal it so she can be freed from the enchanted forest...
Diana Vickery was born in Harrow and attended St Bernards Convent Grammar School, Buckinghamshire. She lived for sixteen years in Greece and now lives on the edge of the New Forest with her family, Swankypants and the rest of the animals in her story.
John Whatmore was born in Southampton. He attended the John Millaise college of Art and Design. He started his working life with the Southampton Echo newspaper and for the last twenty-four years has worked as a freelance Illustrator.
Vondeana was a wise fairy who made her home in the human world, where she lived disguised as a kind old lady. Her cat Magnifico, was very special. She had waited a long time for another cat like him. A kitten that she could send the key of magic, that when he grew would lead him to the tree of dreams and the magic collar. She looked into the basket where Bellisima’s two kittens were fast asleep. Today they would be going to live with the family she had chosen for them. She was sure they were going to be special, particularly the little grey and white one that she had named Swankypants.
This is the first book of a series about a cat called Swankypants and his magical journeys, containing in excess of eighty pages over ten chapters of beautiful watercolour artwork, by John Whatmore.
Swankypants uses his special powers to collect all he needs to give his family the best christmas they have ever had.
