Chris could hardly breathe as he read a most beautiful letter from a daughter he thought he would never see. For all he knew, Mia could be dead. After all,33 years had passed. After reading the letter many times over, Chris stared at the pictures of a little girl and her family, and two granddaughters he never knew existed.Tears ran down his face as he read the pages again and again. Mia lilved right here in Reno the whole time! His first reaction was to drive over to her home, take her in his arms and tell her how much he loved her.
He wanted to call Mia that night, but it was eleven-thirty. He refolded the pages and along with the photos, slipped them back into the envelope. Quietly he placed it in his dresser drawer, and crawled into bed without waking Pam. He needed to check things out before he shared the letter with her.
Chris decided to stop by Name Droppers after his church meeting late on Tuesday afternoon. He walked into the shop and strolled around the store searching for Mia, until Carol, the manager asked if she could help him.
"I'm looking for Mia," he said.
Carol told him Mia was out running errands. He took a business card out of his pocket, wrote a note on the back, then handed the card to Carol and left the store.
When Chris got home that evening, he asked Pam to join him in their bedroom He had something important to disuss. They had been going over photos and family memorabilia, so it was a good time to show her Mia's letter.
"I have something I want you to read," he said, handing the letter to Pam.
Pam glanced at the signature and said, "I know Mia. Why is she sending us this letter?"
